How can I create a registration form?
Use a form builder like Microsoft Forms, Google Forms or Tofu Surveys to collect names, contact information and any necessary details from registrants.
A registration form collects information from people who want to sign up for an event, webinar, service or mailing list. To create one, choose a form builder that meets your needs. Many people start with Google Forms or Microsoft Forms because they’re free and easy to use. Here’s a general approach:
- Identify required fields. Common fields include name, email address, phone number, organisation and any specific data (e.g. dietary restrictions, T‑shirt size).
- Use a template. Form builders often provide registration templates. Start with one and customise the questions. Make mandatory fields required and optional questions optional.
- Enable confirmation and reminders. Most tools allow you to send an automatic confirmation email after someone registers. You can also set up reminders closer to the event date.
- Collect payments if needed. If your event has a fee, use a platform that integrates with payment processors. Some survey tools offer native payment fields or connect to PayPal or Stripe.
- Embed or share. Publish your registration form as a link, embed it on your website or share it via email and social media.
Dedicated survey tools like Tofu Surveys offer additional features such as database integration, custom branding and advanced analytics. For simpler setups, Microsoft Excel or Word can work, but they require more manual coordination—see How can I create a survey in Excel? and How do I create a survey in Microsoft Word? for details.
